Join in the island nation's 47th birthday celebrations

Planning a trip to Singapore during its National Day celebration week? From the world's highest microbrewery to a seven-course meal on the 70th floor of a luxury hotel, here's our list of five places to celebrate the nation's 47th birthday.

1. LeVel 33

Besides being the world's highest urban microbrewery, LeVeL 33 is also one of our favourite places to be, for a lavish dining experience accompanied by the best views of Singapore's Marina bay and city skyline. Not only was it one of our best dining options for New Year's Eve last year, it also made it on our list this time round for Singapore's National Day.

Catch the fireworks display on 9th August 2012 from the comfort of LeVel 33, with cover charges at S$53++ per adult and S$25++ per child (inclusive of one drink).

2. Fairmont Hotel

Visitors coming to Singapore during this period might want to check themselves into Fairmont Hotel Singapore with their National Day rooms special, where you'll be able to enjoy the celebrations and take in the vibrant display of fireworks in the comfort of your guestroom.

Overnight accomodation for a deluxe room (with balcony) will be at S$497++ per room on 9 August 2012, with S$247++ for an additional night before or after National Day. The package will include breakfast for two at Prego or Alligator Pear, as well as 20 percent off total bill within all dining outlets in the hotel. For the local guests intending to join in the occasion, complimentary overnight parking is available.

3. Equinox, Swissotel The Stamford

If staying within the city centre during National Day is not what you're looking for, how about a sumptuous set dinner on 9 August 2012, within the same building that overlooks the spectacular city skyline? Equinox Restaurant, located on the 70th level of Swissotel The Stamford, is presenting a seven-course menu perfect for the occasion.

Indulge in the tasting of beetroot with Braeburn apple, aged balsamic dressing, St. Maure goat’s cheese and toasted pine kernels; wild mushroom consomme and quail tortellini; smoked Haddock and spring onion risotto with shellfish glaze; Angus beef fillet and braised shoulder, wilted spinach, celeriac and pan-seared foie gras and end off on a sweet note with a rhubarb crumble and "chocolate lava" with Okubo blood peach sorbet.

Dinner is priced at S$187++ per person and S$47++ for the first bottle of house wine.

4. Orchard Hotel

When you're in Singapore, a visit to Orchard Road is naturally a must. So why not stay within the prime shopping district belt for an added convenience? Spend a night at Orchard Hotel Singapore's superior room with complimentary broadband and S$100 food and beverage credit to feast at Orchard Café, Noodles and Intermezzo Bar throughout your stay.

Rooms are priced at S$247 a night, or you may wish to upgrade to the deluxe room over at the newly refurbished Claymore Wing at an additional S$47 per night.

5. ESPA

If you don't already know, Singapore's largest luxury spa -- ESPA in Resorts World Sentosa, has already opened its doors to public. And if you'd like to avoid the crowd and instead, spend some much needed time to rest and relax, this is the place to be.

With their speciality in customizing the most ideal treatment for every individual, you can spend up to half a day or more within ESPA just to enjoy the facilities and services they have to offer. From pre-treatments to making use of the sleep lounge after, or enjoying a tasty treat at their Tangerine Spa Cafe, you're definitely in for a wholesome spa experience.

The highlight? The one-of-a-kind authentic Turkish Hammam treatment in Singapore.
