will.i.am has been slammed with a lawsuit over a deal with a clothing company.
I.Am.Clothing claims the Black Eyed Peas star has bailed out of a contract to represent the brand, US website TMZ has revealed.
According to the lawsuit, the 37-year-old rapper penned a deal in 2010 to allow the label to use his name to promote the line. The company also says the popular music producer agreed to design and market the brand.
The business claims will.i.am has bowed out of the deal to lend his name to the line through until 2016. They are demanding $2 million in compensation from the chart-topping star.
will.i.am - who is renowned for her eclectic style - began designing clothes in 2001 with Lor-e Phillips who is head wardrobe stylist for the Black Eyed Peas. The Grammy Award-winning musician had a fashion background before joining the band, having attended the Los Angeles’ Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
I.Am Clothing has been described as the haute couture for street wear with a range of waistcoats, skirts, blazers, trousers and scarves for men and women.© Cover Media
