10 Feb – Katy Perry's song title "Not Like the Movies", definitely sums up the wedding story of Malaysian star Aniu, whose current marital state is nothing like his idyllic wedded character in his newest film "The Wedding Diary", as reported by Daily Chilli.
The "Homecoming" star explained that, "My real life and reel life (marriage) are two different experiences. My real marriage was like a flash bulb. It happened too fast."
However, even when pressed further, Aniu declined to discuss his marital issues in public out of concern for his 11-year-old daughter, who is now being raised by his family in Penang and may face media scrutiny following this revelation.
"Please have mercy on me," he pleads, hands clasped.
Rumours have it that the gifted 36-year-old musician and his Taiwanese wife have been living apart for about two years now. The couple tied the knot in 2001 with only both their families attending, which is why they have managed to stay out of the media's attention till now.
"He won't talk about his marital problems because it's just too personal and too hurtful for his daughter," said his personal aide.
Putting Aniu aside, the Singapore-Malaysia feel-good romance comedy titled "The Wedding Diary" is directed by Adrian Teh, and stars Singaporean and Malaysian stars such as Elanne Kwong, Kara Hui, Jack Choo, Marcus Chin, Maggie Theng, Shaun Chen and Chris Tong.
"The Wedding Diary" is distributed by GSC, and opened in Malaysian and Singaporean cinemas on 9 February.
