Audi Fashion Festival Finale: Roland Mouret A/W 2012

What better way to cap off five fabulous days of fashion than with Roland Mouret himself? The French designer was in Singapore to present his much-awaited Autumn/Winter 2012 collection on the last night of the Audi Fashion Festival.

He stopped by to present the last show, shrugging off jet lag, at the behest of old friend Colin McDowell, who is also the Creative Director of the Audi Fashion week.

The French designer grabbed fashion headlines recently thanks to Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, who wore his all-white Lombard gown to an event in London and his navy Manon dress during an official trip to Canada. Celebrities such as former French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Victoria Beckham and Dita Von Teese have worn his designs as well. In fact, Von Teese donned a Roland Mouret purple Gali dress at the Singapore Jewelfest last year.

But back to the runway: Mouret treated his fans and Singapore’s stylish set to soft hues of green, beige and blue on well-fitted, well-tailored, ready-to-wear pieces that can literally take you from the boardroom straight to the (rather classy) dinner table.

Models were decked out in fawn and cheetah prints, wool crepe tabards, tops, skirts and dresses with Mouret’s sophisticated signature drapes, sculptural lines and folds. Striking details like big pockets, grey fur and fabric belts make the lovely skirt suits sure winners in my book too.
 
Add in pumps or ankle boots, and you’re more than ready to step off the catwalk! No doubt the guests are hankering for their own Mouret right now.
