Recently, there are so many viewers raved up over the newly launched KBS 2TV’s drama, “Bridal Mask” for it’s exciting action scenes and the main lead, Lee Kang To’s exceptional acting skills.
The new drama was crowned number one soon after its first broadcast on May 30th despite having so much competition due to other new dramas’ releases at the same time such as: SBS TV’s new drama, “The Ghost” (cast, So Ji Sub and Lee Yeon Hee), and also Kim Sun Ah and Lee Jang Woo’s “I Do I Do” at MBC TV.
Joo Won’s outstanding approach for this role is very penetrating; it is totally different from his other performances from previous appearance in drama and variety show. It brought to viewers much surprises by his new try for the role of bad guy.
In “Briadal Mask”, Joo Won will be tackling the role of Lee Kang To, a multi-dimensional as a detective during the Japanese invasion era as well as an un-named hero. Lee Kang To works with the Japanese police to capture “Briadal Mask”, however, was somehow got misunderstood as part of the gang by Kimura Shunji (played by Park Ji Woong), which lead to a big fight between them.
However, later Kang To discovered that his prey, 'Bridal Mask' is in fact his older brother, Kang San. The story line became more interesting upon its discovery of the identity of “Bridal Mask”.
There will also be a turning point as the story goes; Kang To's life is irrevocably changed when Kang San is killed in front of his eyes by the Japanese police. The death of his beloved older brother drives him to take up the bridal mask of his fallen brother and fulfill his dream of freeing Korea from Japanese rule.
Bridal Mask or Gaksital is based on a very popular Korean comic published in 1974. The story sets in the darkest era of Korea, involves the very complicated relationships of the main lead, Lee Kang To and the people around him. There are battles between him and his friends and family, also a love line with a woman named Se Yeon that he falls in love with.
