Chanel Cruise 2012 show in Versailles

Forget the SWATH goings on, Grazia Team Beauty were glued to the live updates direct from Versailles where Karl Lagerfeld was presenting Chanel's Cruise collection. The likes of Alice Dellal, Laura Bailey and Vanessa Paradis were sat on the FROW (see the best dressers here) in blissfully bright sunny weather to watch Karl's modelistas strut their stuff in possibly THE most beautiful clothes we’ve seen yet.

'Marie Antoinette goes to a rave'

Our eyes were on the cute hair and makeup looks courtesy of Chanel’s very own Peter Philips and Sam McKnight. Mr. Philips, as always, cooked up a visionary storm with a mix of coral punchy pink shadows, OTT blusher and glossy pink lips. All very feminine and delightful in our opinion.

Over on hair the uber-talented Sam McKnight went all out on the wig front with a mix of lilac, grey, pink and black wigs on the likes of Cara Delevingne (who opened the show) and Lindsay Wixon. We were following Sam’s own tweets – @SamMcKnight1 – to keep up-to-date with all the show looks and his fabulous Instagram pics. We even got hot shots of him trimming models' wigs into precise bobs prior to the show.

Twitter fans were describing the show as 'Marie Antoinette goes to a rave on acid' and other such descriptions which we think is really rather fitting. With the dramatic backdrop of the palace and the dazzling sunshine, Karl couldn't have asked for a better day.
