Chanel wowed with decidedly feminine fare at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week this morning.

The French fashion house presented its couture vision for Fall/Winter 12 at the Grand Palais in the fashion capital under a ‘new vintage’ theme as the hand-drawn invite by Karl Lagerfeld had hinted.

Fashion icon Anna Winter and stylish star including Diane Kruger and Alexa Chung all graced what is considered one of the top shows every year.

A pale pink and grey colour palette dominated the collection which screamed delicate retro elegance.

Models sashayed down the catwalk in slinky evening gowns embellished with shimmery sequins, organza dresses strewn with the label’s signature camellia flowers and 3D detailing in the form of chiffon shoulders and silken stripes.

Dresses were teamed with sparkly silver tights and cream and gold coloured pumps.

Of course, Chanel’s trademark bouclé jackets weren’t missing either. Cut loser and longer than the original and in a smart patchwork pattern, the overall effect was ladylike retro chic.

Lagerfeld is renowned for putting on extravagant shows and this time round the venue was transformed into a conservatory, complete with bushes for decoration and simple white wicker chairs for the audience.
