Dong-yup is KBS' highest paid entertainer

2 Sept - It was revealed that comedian Shin Dong-yup is first on the list of people who received the highest pay in KBS in 2011.

As reported on Allkpop, the National Assembly's Culture, Sports, Tourism, broadcasting and Communications Committee recently made public the top 10 celebrities with the highest salary in Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and Shin Dong-yup was revealed to be standing at the top spot with KRW 609.5 million (app. USD 537,000). The comedian turned emcee earned his dough through various programmes such as "Hello" and "Immortal Song 2".

In second place is former "Gag Concert" star Lee Soo-geun, who earned KRW 595 million (app. USD 524,000) from being a permanent cast member of KBS hit variety Show "2 Days 1 night" and hosting shows such as "Win Win".

Meanwhile, in third place was "King Gwanggaeto the Great" actor Lee Tae-gon with a salary of KRW 522 million (app. USD 460,000) in 2011.

Other popular entertainers on the list included "Sponge" host Lee Hee-jae with KRW 471 million (app. USD 415,000) and "Win Win" co-host and "2D1N" star Kim Seung-woo with KRW 350 million (app. USD 308,000).

Despite being the most popular Korean comedian due to his various variety show stints in various broadcasting stations, one of Korea's top comedians and TV personalities, emcee Yoo Jae-suk sits lower in the top 10 spots for KBS entertainers with KRW 439 million (app. USD 386,000) for "Happy Together".
