Ellen Barkin thinks good looks can be "a curse" in Hollywood.
The 58-year-old actress has appeared in a string of box office successes including Ocean's Thirteen and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Ellen thinks too many big screen stars rely on their looks to get them places, but she views this as a weakness.
"I see a lot of actors without any education who only bet on their prettiness. Good looks can be a curse because it makes people lazy," she told German TV station Tele 5.
"My crooked nose and my awry smile just belong to me. With time it mattered less and less to me when people asked me if I had my nose broken. I could have had it fixed, my parents offered that when I was 16 but I didn't want to."
Ellen makes no excuses for her outspoken nature. She feels it's better to have an opinion and not always conform to the "perfect" Hollywood ideal.
"I don't care what people think of me. That has nothing to do with arrogance it's just in my nature. I don't think about whether I am liked or not," she added.
