Eva Green feels like "the ugly duckling from Venus" when she's around glamorous Los Angeles types.
The 31-year-old actress cites Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep as her style icons and admires how they put their passion for acting before the way they look.
Eva thinks there are far too many vain stars in Hollywood nowadays, which makes her feel a little uncomfortable.
"They're real actresses. It's not all about physique and how beautiful you look. In this business, actors who have Botox or surgery make you very aware [of age] - it's awful," she said.
"In LA, I feel like the ugly duckling, like I'm from Venus or something!"
Eva has lived in London for the past seven years. The French beauty appreciates that the city is more accepting when it comes to fashion choices.
"I feel more like an adult here, for some reason. People can be very individual, they're not scared of having pink hair - in France, you would really look at them; here it's about wearing what you want," she told the latest edition of UK magazine InStyle.
Eva hates dieting. However, she's felt pressure to keep in shape in the past.
"Before my first film, the casting director asked me to lose some weight, saying, 'On screen you're going to look much fatter,'" she recalled.
"Ahhhh! I started drinking soups and then I was like, 'I can't do it, I can't go on a diet.' It's hell, it makes you feel very depressed - food is so important to me."© Cover Media
