The third trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, with Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) in the starring role, was released yesterday, revealing new footage.
Opening with voice-over narration by Peter Parker to set the tone, the latest trailer shows more storyline, more action, more visual effects, and a bit more of The Lizard, Spider-Man's nemesis, played by Rhys Ifans.
An outcast teenager, who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, Parker has the challenge of finding out what he really is after his radioactive spider bite.
His quest leads him to Dr. Curt Connors, his father's former partner, and a confrontation unfolds with The Lizard. Peter must make the choice to use his powers and transform into a superhero leaping around the skyscrapers of Manhattan, which comes under a biological attack.
The film also stars Emma Stone (The Help) as his love interest, Denis Leary (the voice of Diego in Ice Age) as her father, the police chief hunting down Spider-Man, and veteran actors Martin Sheen and Sally Field as Peter's aunt and uncle.
Directed by Marc Webb, who helmed the indie hit (500) Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters on July 3-6 worldwide and debuts in Japan June 30.
