If you feel like you need a degree in chemistry to choose the right beauty product for your skin, why not switch to an organic alternative to fulfil your needs? If you think that organic cosmetics are more expensive and less efficient for skincare, think again! For the last few years, organic cosmetics have proved themselves incredibly successful and their results have been recognised both by consumers and experts.
So why not trying to take care of your face with natural ingredients and plants? Cover Media has caught up with Simon Ford, the UK brand manager for Melvita. It is one of the leading brands in the world for organic cosmetics, and Simon was keen to discuss the virtues of some well-known plants on the skin. Indeed, Melvita recently launched Extraordinary Waters to complete its range of floral waters and they are famous for their properties.
What type of floral water should I use if I have a dry skin?
“The best one is Orange Blossom, also known as Neroli, because it is less astringent and it really helps to soothe the skin,” said Simon. “I wouldn't advise rose water for dry skin as it is a bit too astringent. Rose water is good for redness and refining, it can be used like a toner and to reduce the appearance of pores.”
The expert was also quick to add that every skin type should use toner. If it is radiance that you are looking for, you should try the Narcissus Extraordinary Water which is a mix of Narcissus water combined with papaya, lemon and olive leaves. It is known to boost radiance and for its brightening action. When used every day, it balances the overall complexion of the skin.
The brand manager also gave us some tips on the best ways to apply the floral water. “Usually, you use one after cleansing by spraying the water on the face. We recommend waiting one to two minutes before applying a layer of night cream, for example. If you want to use it in the day, you can keep the spray on your desk and spritz the room to create a soothing atmosphere. You can also spritz it on top of your make-up to fix it. It is really multi-purpose!” he said.© Cover Media
