He has created memorable styles for stars like Kylie Minogue and Elle Macpherson and worked his magic on big screen hunks Hugh Grant and Christian Slater.
So it’s no surprise Jamie Stevens is Britain’s reigning Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year.
And last week, the coiffeur extraordinaire opened the doors to his first salon in London’s swanky Kensington.
On the eve of his salon launch, Cover Media caught up with Jamie to find out what’s hot in the hair world.
What haircut are you asked for most?
It’s got to be the bob because it’s such a timeless classic, which can suit all ages, face shapes and colours.
Which celebrity has the most influence in the hair world?
I would say it definitely changes. Obviously ‘the Rachel’ was really popular for years. And these days pop stars like Rihanna are also massive influences on hair trends. Kate Middleton, Judi Dench and Meryl Streep are big influences as well.
What are the biggest hair trends for 2012?
They are a reflection from this season’s catwalks. There will be a big trend towards 1970s style glamour with the big bouncy blow dry, with tons of volume using heated rollers or a blow dry and set. The short and textured little pixie cut will still be big but tailored to suit the individual. And we’ll be moving away from platinum blondes and instead seeing more metallic, peach and pink hues.
What inspires your work?
Pretty much everything inspires me. Celebs, music, art, film, fashion and even department store window fronts! I dedicate one day a month to looking at fashion blogs and shop displays to see what’s hot right now.
What has been the most 'pinch-me, is this really happening!' moment of your career?
It’s probably got to be getting the resident hairdresser job on The X Factor, which is a huge show in Britain - being the main stylist on that is a massive honour.© Cover Media
