Han Ji Hye revealed that cast members were worried for 'May Queen's' storyline

MBC TV weekend drama 'May Queen' starring actress Han Ji Hye recently wrapped up filming on a successful note, with the television rating for the final episode coming in at an impressive 26.4%.

Despite the success, the over-the-top storylines consisting of murder, betrayal, revenge, complicated relationships between the lead cast members, have led to 'May Queen' being labeled as a classic Korean makjang drama. To this, Han Ji Hye expressed her thoughts in a recent interview.

Han Ji Hye expressed, "Actors can't change the direction of the drama's storyline. If we don't like it or feel unjust, we won't be able to do a good job of acting it out by bringing such emotions with us to the film set. Right from the beginning, I already knew that Jang Do Hyun (Lee Duk Hwa) was the biological father of Chun Hae Joo (Han Ji Hye), but I was really curious as to how it was going to be depicted. I even hope that Do Hyun would end up penniless midway through the drama, and repent on his mistakes, before getting assistance from Hae Joo to pick up his life again. But the latter part of Do Hyun's story hadn't come out yet so I thought they had changed the script."

She continued, "The latter half of the drama revealed that Do Hyun was Hae Joo's biological father. But the last episode had to cover too many storylines so there were much regrets over that. It would be much more interesting if some of the storylines were revealed earlier. Some of the scenes which had been held back from broadcast, were all let loose in the final episode, so it's no wonder that viewers were left scratching their heads over the confusing sequence of events. But judging from the television rating of the last episode, viewers were still curious about the ending. Dramas is basically channel surfing between television stations. If it isn't interesting, viewers will switch to another channel. But I feel that 'May Queen' is loved by everyone. But if someone feels unhappy about watching it, I am sorry, but as an actress, my focus is on doing the best as I can in acting out my role."

Finally, Han Ji Hye gave an explanation for Kang San's (Kim Jae Won) MacGyver storyline, "This was the humor of the director, and is a unique take of the director about his own work. The humor and emotions of this drama, enabled Kang San's perspective about his love towards his family to be even more adorable, and was not a mistake as previously thought. The other cast members felt that this was something incredible, and were wondering how did he do that, as he did a great job with it and made it really interesting."

In the final episode of 'May Queen', the drama's antagonist Jang Do Hyun loses everything, reflecting on his misdeeds, before ending his own life, as good prevails over evil eventually in the drama. Hae Joo and Kang San charts their respective path to their dreams and promises to go together forward towards the future; Chang Hee (Jae Hee) and In Hwa (Son Eun Seo) reunites a year later and open their hearts towards each other; Finally the drama's most enthusiastic character Yoon Jung Woon (Lee Hoon) and Lee Bong Hee (Kim Ji Young) live a blissful marriage life.
