13 Sep - It has been revealed that TVB actress Jenny Lau was mistreated on the set of "Heart Road GPS" by director Cheung Wing Ho when two video clips of him mistreating her were uploaded to the Internet.
According to Jayne Stars, Jenny was having trouble with a scene where loan sharks poured a bag of frogs over her head, which enraged the director. Cheung then went and pulled the frog-smelling bag over her head and hit her head against a door, traumatising the actress who was afraid of frogs.
Afterwards, when the director called for a re-shoot, Jenny reportedly cried and begged them to stop.
When the videos of the mistreatment went online, TVB immediately issued a gag order on the cast and crew about the incident. However, Jenny's co-star Yeung Chiu Ho, who was on set to help Jenny with the scene, was disapproving of Cheung's action.
"Jenny Lau truly is very afraid of frogs. The director was trying out the scene with her and could not hold back his force. His tone was also very rough; he could have been gentler with a woman," Yeung said.
Cheung had reportedly apologised to the actress over the incident and admitted his faults.
"I admit that I am impatient and my tone was a bit angry. Afterward, I apologized to the actress," he said.
Jenny had also reportedly accepted his apology and did not want to escalate the issue any further.
Cheung had gained a reputation for being rough with actors on set since when he was still an assistant director. Among actors that he had mistreated in the past were Charmaine Sheh and Yoyo Mung.
