Jordin Sparks and Jason Derülo bonded over "tragic" things.
The singer-and-actress and Jason have both been through tough times during their lives. Jordin says her beau has always supported her and thinks facing these bad situations has helped them forge a strong relationship.
"We both went through things that were tragic, and that brought us even closer together,” Jordin explained to the September issue of Redbook magazine. “He had a near-death experience, and I lost someone.”
The musical pair officially revealed they were seeing each other in January this year. Since they started dating, Jordin has lost 50lbs. in weight and now feels happy with her appearance. Despite her flourishing career and fabulous appearance, Jordin is resolute that her priority is Jason and her family.
“Family is what matters — and being with the people you love,” Jordin explained. “Priorities get in line when stuff like that happens.”
The 22-year-old was also quizzed about her thoughts on the Hollywood party scene. Although she enjoys having a good time, Jordin would never take things too far.
“Oh, I'm waaay too scared to dabble in anything like that. I like the way my heart beats, I like the way I think; I don't need or want anything to change that,” she said. “The first thing I think of is, 'What would my grandparents say?' My mom and dad would kick my butt."
