    Katy Perry, Russell Brand finalize divorce

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge has granted Katy Perry and Russell Brand a divorce, although the pair won't be legally split up until July.

    Superior Court Judge Marc Marmaro signed the judgment Wednesday, less than six weeks after Brand filed for divorce and one day after Perry filed paperwork stating that she and Brand have agreed on all financial issues.

    The exact terms of the breakup are confidential.

    Brand, Perry and Marmaro all signed the judgment Wednesday, court records show. The couple will become legally single again on July 14 because California law requires that couples wait at least six months after filing before their divorce can be finalized.

    The judgment calls for Perry's maiden name, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, to be restored.

    Neither Brand, a British actor and comedian, or Perry, a pop superstar, indicated in court filings when they separated.

    They were married in October 2010 in a lavish wedding at a resort inside a tiger reserve in India.

    Their wedding came at a high-point for both of their careers. Brand was introduced to U.S. audiences after hosting the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and has since starred in films including "Arthur," ''Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him to the Greek."

    Perry has turned out a string of pop hits, including "I Kissed a Girl" and "California Gurls" and is scheduled to perform at Sunday night's Grammy Awards. She has also been nominated for two awards for her song "Firework."

      I'd heard elsewhere that he didn't take a dime of her money, even though there apparently was no prenup and he could have walked away with a small fortune. I think he's creepy, but he gets points for not taking her to the cleaners; a classy move on his part.

        Yeah i am not sure where the "creepy" thing comes from. Hes a very honest man and has admitted to his demons in public (most noteably his sex addiction and substance abuse/addiction). He seems like a genuinely good guy who battles on a daily basis to be a better person.

        Personally I dont get the appeal of the guy, I dont think hes funny at all, I dont think hes talented at all, and I have no clue as to why Katy Perry settled for this guy. Like i said he seems like a cool cat...but she can do waaaaaayyyyyyyyy better with someone who is equally as cool and with less baggage, better looking. Thats not to say that she's perfection or anything, but she can afford to be more picky.

      I don't know them personally, and I joke about Russell's resemblance to a horse, but this is sad. It would be nice to see and hear of marriages that work and last. At least it wasn't a complete sham like the Kartrashians. Correction, Kim. At least Khloe can keep her man.

        Reading comprehension problem here. The divorce is finalized, i.e. the parties have come to terms and signed an agreement. The Judge has approved the agreement. The judgement of divorce won't be entered until July, but the parties have FINALIZED the action. Got it?
