With ‘The Thieves’ successfully breaking the 10 million barrier, actor Kim Soo Hyun and veteran actress Kim Hae Sook kept their promises with fans as they thanked moviegoers for their support in an event held on the afternoon of August 18th at Gangnam’s Megabox.
Many fans gathered together for this event including fans who watched ‘The Thieves’ 5 times and more; fans who specially rushed to Seoul; some fans also prepared flower baskets for the two stars. At the event, Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Hae Sook also gave away autographed movie posters and the whole event was anything but a boisterous affair.
Kim Hae Sook especially took time out from her busy schedule to grace the special event. She expressed, “I am really happy to meet with such an excellent role and also enjoying the good results that the movie has had thus far. I really must thank the 10 million moviegoers who have watched the movie and those who have come here for this even despite rainy days.”
Kim Soo Hyun also thanked the fans as he said, “The event today was made possible because of the 10 million moviegoers who watched ‘The Thieves’. I never thought that this would be really possible. But because of you all, I am now able to realize the promise I made earlier. Really thank you all for buying tickets to watch the movie.”
2 lucky fans were picked from those who attended the event. A lucky female moviegoer won the ‘Kim Hae Sook’s kiss’ and she even gave the actress a flower basket beforehand. In the end, Kim Hae Sook planted a deep kiss and also gave the female moviegoer a warm hug before taking a photo as a commemoration.
Meanwhile, another female moviegoer who was revealed to be a student was the recipient for a piggy back ride by Kim Soo Hyun. To participate in the event, she had made the trip to Seoul with her parents. When her name was called out though, the female moviegoer was overcome with emotion and started crying. Kim Soo Hyun then started to console her by making a comical pose before fulfilling his promise by giving her a piggy back ride. He then carried her for a round around the cinema, which was filled with lots of cheers from envious fans.
Later on, Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Hae Sook then took photos with fans who participated in the event, before sitting down to watch the movie together with them. After the movie concluded, the two then positioned themselves at the exit and shook the hands of each moviegoer to say goodbye.
‘The Thieves’ is an action thriller which talks of professional thieves in Korea who teams up with thieves from China to steal the rare ‘Tear of the Sun’ diamond hidden inside a Macau casino.
