Mere hours after Us Weekly revealed photos of Kristen Stewart ostensibly cheating on Robert Pattinson with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, Stewart has issued a statement. The actress took an unusual approach to the rumours by actually apologizing in public.
"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry," Stewart said in a statement obtained by People.
Stewart, 22, and Pattinson, 26, have been one of Young Hollywood's most powerful couples since they met on the set of the first "Twilight" film in 2008.
At 41, film director Sanders is nearly twice Stewart's age; he is currently married to model Liberty Ross, with whom he has two children.
Saunders himself offered a public apology as well.
"I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," Saunders said in a statement to People. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."
Us Weekly reports that after Ross learned of her husband's indiscretion with Stewart, she posted a tweet that simply read, "Wow."
