"Life Of Pi" gets 11 Oscars nominations

14 Jan – The 85th Academy Awards' nomination list has been announced and Ang Lee's 3D spectacle, "Life Of Pi" received 11 Academy nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Popular Asians reported that on 10 January, the Oscars revealed that the film was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, and Best Visual Effects.

The movie will battle it out with Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln", a biopic about Abraham Lincoln's battle to end slavery in the United States. The movie is leading the Oscars' race with 12 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Leading Actor.

Ang Lee also recently won the VES Visionary Award, and will be receiving the award from the Visual Effects Society on 5 February at the Beverly Hilton Hotels in California.

The 85th Academy Awards will be held on 24 February at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
