Michelle Pfeiffer has joked that her newfound zest for acting is down to her "restlessness" at home.
The star has made a return to films after a four-year hiatus, during which she remained largely out of the public eye to devote time to her family. Michelle can be seen playing Elizabeth in Tim Burton’s new movie Dark Shadows and she also appeared in New Year's Eve and People Like Us.
Michelle is astonished by her big screen comeback.
"It's a bit of a surprise for me, to be honest. I've done very few movies in the last ten years and suddenly I've done three in one year. I think I must be getting restless or something!" she laughed in an interview with the British edition of OK! magazine.
"My kids just don't need their mother as much as they used to."
Michelle raises children Claudia, 19, and 17-year-old John with husband David E. Kelley.
The 54-year-old star says becoming a mother completely changed her outlook on life.
"I was under a lot of stress in my early thirties and I wasn't that secure in how I felt about the work I was doing. Even when I did The Fabulous Baker Boys, it was a challenge to evoke that sultry, sexual personality," she said.
"I kind of rebelled against that image because of the perception people had of me. But I was looking for other things in life. I wanted to have children, becoming a mother was a huge moment for me."© Cover Media
