10 Aug – Popdust website revealed that girl group SNSD won the gold medal for their "Pop Olympics".
According to Soshified website, SNSD's win was achieved through a poll that was conducted by the website from 30 July to 6 August, by choosing global stars from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Korea. Among the stars that were selected for the poll include Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, as well as other Korean stars like Big Bang and Wonder Girls.
The girls won first place in all categories - Best Music Video (for "Mr. Taxi" with 6% votes), Hottest Artist (66%), Best YouTube Moment (for their New York fan meet, 65%), Best Fans (65%) and Best Song ("The Boys", 60%).
Meanwhile, the silver medal went to the British-Irish band, The Wanted and Taylor Swift was awarded the bronze.
Established in 2011, Popdust is a music portal website found by American music moguls including the co-founder of XM Satellite Radio, top editor from "SPIN" and "Blender" magazines and Billboard, and Senior Sales Executive from "Vanity Fair", "Jane", and "Maxim" magazines.
