16 Jan – Actor Wallace Chung has confirmed to play the lead character Deng Sidi in the TV drama adaptation of the 2009 highly-acclaimed Hong Kong film, "Bodyguards and Assassins".
According to Popular Asians website, Mainland China's Bona Film Group earlier announced that they are adapting director Teddy Chan's award-winning martial arts film, "Bodyguards and Assassins" into a drama, stating that the TV version will centre on the poor rickshaw puller Deng Sidi - a character that was portrayed by Nicholas Tse in the film.
Wallace Chung was chosen to play the role after an online poll conducted by the production studio shows that the audiences preferred the actor, along with top contenders Nicholas Tse and Wen Zhang, to play the character. With the actor already being recommended by director Guk Gaau Leung, who has worked with Wallace in 2004's "Treacherous Waters", producer Yu Dong has decided to go with Wallace over the others.
Filming will begin after Wallace Chung concludes filming his wuxia TV drama, "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils".
