Wayne Lai offered hefty sum by Malaysian filmmaker

3 Oct – Rumour has it that TVB actor Wayne Lai has been offered a hefty sum to play a role in a Malaysian film, "The Beggars".

According to Asian Crunch website, Lai was reported to have received the proposal after his drama, "The Confidante" became a huge hit in Malaysia. The actor was rumoured to have been offered a hefty sum of seven figures if he decided to accept it, and that the actor will be heading over to Malaysia to discuss the details and hold a press conference.

When asked about the rumour, Lai heartily remarked, "That is a business secret. After all, I'm very satisfied with the pay."

However, he confirmed the rumour by saying, "I did not accept the film just because of the money but mainly because the Malaysian filmmaker had sincerity. The Malaysian production agreed to accommodate my schedule after I told them that I will be busy with promotional activities after TVB's anniversary. So how can I say no?"

Wayne continued saying that he has never participated in a Malaysian film and hoped he can create sparks with the local stars. The actor will be playing the modern version of 'Beggars' Sect Chief' in the film that will begin filming in late October.
