YG to revive SuPearls

25 May – Fans of the SBS' "K-Pop Star" ad hoc group SuPearls will be enthralled to know that the girl group will be relaunched by YG Entertainment.

According to Korea.com, on 23 May, after announcing that they have signed Lee Michelle, Lee Ha-yi and Lee Seung-hoon, the agency announced on their blog YG Life that they have cast Lee Jung-mi and Lee Seung-joo with a note saying, "Revival of the SuPearls 1. Lee Ha-yi 2. Lee Michelle 3. Lee Jung-mi 4. Lee Seung-joo."

SuPearls, originally consisting of Lee Jung-mi, Lee Michelle, Lee Seung-joo, and the winner Park Ji-min, is an ad hoc group that was created in "K-Pop Star" for one of the challenges in the show, however, the group managed to awe the judges and audience with their perfect harmonisation.

A spokesperson for the agency says, "SuPearls was composed of Park Ji-min, Lee Michelle, Lee Jung-mi, and Lee Seung-joo. However, Park had already signed a contract with JYP Entertainment. As a result, we decided to put Lee Ha-yi in the group."

They continued, "We will help them become an attractive group so that they can live up to expectations and thank their fans who wanted to see the group again. The new SuPearls will reach out to their fans like Big Mama, who worked in our agency in the past."

Meanwhile, YG Entertainment's CEO, Yang Hyun-suk commented, "During "K-Pop Star", SuPearls moved the stage and the audience so we are planning on creating a new SuPearls".

He also said, "The new SuPearls members already proved their skills through K-Pop Star and there are many fans who are anticipating for their return. We are going to start on their debut stage immediately and release them as soon as possible."

Lee Ha-yi will debut as both a solo singer and a member of the group.
