In just a little over a year, the online short film portal Viddsee launched by two former National University of Singapore undergraduates has crossed 5 million unique viewers.
Launch in Feb 2013, the site now has over 10 dedicated channels showcasing the work of film-making talents from Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand.
“I have learnt that a well-told story can resonate very widely and very loudly,” says Singaporean filmmaker Daniel Yam of his breakout short film, "Gift", which was showcased on Yahoo's platform and has since travelled far and wide.
“I did not expect the film to travel so widely on Viddsee, and certainly did not expect viewers from countries like Greece, Romania, Brazil, or Russia,” he adds.
