23rd Golden Melody Awards pulls biggest ratings since 2000

1 Jul - The 23rd Golden Melody Awards pulled in big numbers for TTV (broadcaster for the award), recording the highest ratings for the show since year 2000, revealed Taiwan media.

The broadcast delivers to an estimated 533 million people in Taiwan, where the ratings averaged and peaked at 5.77 and 8.84 points respectively. It was the highest ratings of the past 12 years.

The moment where Ascent Chan received his "Best Mandarin Male Singer" award had pushed up the ratings to 8.84 points, which is equivalent to about 194 million audiences at that time. Tanya Chua had also boosted up the ratings to 8.7 points when she received the "Best Mandarin Female Singer" award.

The reunion of Taiwanese girl group S.H.E on stage had also boosted the ratings to 8.27 points with the number of audiences watching at about 182 million. Meanwhile, there were about 178 million people tuned in to watch the memories of the late Taiwanese singer Feng Fei-Fei, performed by Hong Kong famous singer, Sandy Lam.
