Anne Hathaway says the past year has been “spectacular” for her.

The 30-year-old star enjoyed two career-changing performances, as Fantine in the musical movie Les Misérables and as Catwoman in Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.

Anne also married actor Adam Shulman in September in a romantic ceremony in California.

“I can honestly say with absolute assurance that 2012 has been the best year,” she gushed to British newspaper The Telegraph.

“It has just been spectacular, wonderful. I got to star in two wonderful films, I turned 30 and I married the love of my life.”

Anne first rose to fame as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries franchise.

Despite being reluctant to associate herself with the role these days, the pretty brunette felt like royalty on her wedding day.

“I’m really resistant to the princess thing, because I felt so pegged in by the association early on in my career,” she admitted.

“But I felt like I was living in an enchanted fairyland that day. My mom sang Sea of Love, I was dancing with friends I’ve grown up with who I adore deeply… I can’t deny I’m a deeply loved person, not just by Adam.”

Another big event in 2012 saw Anne cut off her long locks for her role as Fantine.

The actress confessed losing her hair means she won’t have anything to hide behind, should she choose to have a big New Year’s Eve night out.

“When you’ve had a late night, with long hair you can hide the next day until you feel better. There’s nothing to hide behind anymore,” she laughed.
