Chris O’Dowd has jokingly predicted the “backlash” against him is “just around the corner”.
The Irish actor shot to fame in hit film Bridesmaids and has since landed roles in The Sapphires and Judd Apatow’s new comedy This is 40. Despite enjoying considerable success in Hollywood, Chris is certain his luck will soon run out.
“Everyone is so friendly and genuinely likes what I’ve done. I’m sure that’ll change. I’ll do a couple of stinkers… the backlash is just around the corner,” he laughed to the latest UK edition of Marie Claire magazine.
Chris spends a lot of time working in Los Angeles, but his home remains with his wife Dawn in London. Although he loves living in the UK, he finds it frustrating at times when he can’t step out in public without being mobbed by fans and photographers.
“London is the best city in the world, so I’d find it hard to leave for good. The only part I find frustrating at times – and I don’t mean to sound petty – is the amount of time you spend having your picture taken with people. I don’t see my friends a lot, yet I’ll spend an hour every night out being photographed,” he explained.
Chris never harboured a desire to be a comic actor when he was a child. Instead, he was determined to pursue a legal career after feeling inspired by his favourite US TV show.
“I wanted to be a lawyer because I liked the TV show LA Law. Then I realised it wasn’t the law I liked but LA,” he laughed.© Cover Media
