7 July – One of Singapore's most popular actresses, Fann Wong, has been awarded the "2012 Huading Most Popular Asian Actress Award" in Beijing Olympic Sports Centre recently.

During her abbreviated acceptance speech that night, the 41-year-old star expressed her heartfelt gratitude about her success.

"As an actress, I will continue to work hard to do my best", she said.

In her interview with the Singapore media, she talked about the responsibility of being an artiste, and that today's artistes have bigger responsibilities.

"Artistes nowadays are not just performing. They have to do a lot of ambassador jobs and charitable work," explained Fann.

When she was asked about her upcoming projects, she revealed that she had just finished filming "Runaway Woman", a production from China.

Huading Awards is organised by the local paper, "Beijing Times", as a platform to recognise the contributions of artistes in the Chinese entertainment industry. The award is also referred to as China's version of the American awards show, "People Choice's Awards".
