Kate Beckinsale's "super dark eye" make-up look has been explained.

The actress wowed in an ivory and nude Naeem Khan long sleeve gown at the Berlin premiere of Total Recall recently. Kate's hair was styled in a fuss-free low bun while her darker eye make-up added a vampy look to her otherwise angelic-looking appearance.

Kate’s make-up artist Molly R. Stern has revealed the inspiration behind the stunning star's smouldering look.

“For Kate’s look we wanted to do a super dark eye using blacks and golds, and a spot of navy," she told Access Hollywood.

She defined the eyes with black eye liner and lashings of black high impact mascara.

Molly also explained how she achieved Kate's flawless complexion. The beauty professional says moisturiser is key when garnering a gorgeous glow to rival Kate's.

"I prepped Kate’s skin with By Terry Baum de Rose and then applied a thin layer of Natura Bisse Vitamin C Cream," she revealed. "I highlighted her skin using Serge Luten Quant-a-Soi base makeup to capture the lights of the flashing photographers.

"Next I applied a sheer veil of Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation."

Posing for photos with Kate was her director husband Len Wiseman who was seen admiring his gorgeous wife from across the red carpet. Kate appeared to be blushing at his undivided attention, but it was another clever make-up move by Molly that achieved this effect.

"For her cheeks I applied a combination of Hourglass Creme-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Illume Sunset on the apples and then lightly dusted NARS Miss Liberty Blush over top," Molly continued.
