Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Roberts motivated each other as "workout buddies".

Both stars were a part of pop group Pussycat Dolls, alongside Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton.

All members were super slim and often wore revealing outfits and Kimberly admits she partially succumbed to the pressure of always looking her best.

"I took it on to a certain extent. Making sure I was putting my best foot forward by eating protein, egg whites and chicken and staying away from carbs and sugar," she recalled to British magazine OK!

"Ashley and I have been best friends since before the Dolls and we became massive workout buddies. We helped inspire each other. We knew we needed to achieve a goal, but finding a balance with the industry and what you yourself want to achieve."

Former bandmember Nicole has admitted to struggling with eating disorders in the past.

Kimberly can remember being given some strange advice when the group was first formed.

"At the beginning of the Dolls we were asked to look like anorexic aliens - they were the words that were used," she marvelled.

"I think they were used lightly, but it was their way of saying they wanted us to compete with everything out there but thinner, better and greater."
