16 Jan – While "Star Wars" fans are waiting to see another filmmaker helm the new trilogy of the famous sci-fi franchise created by George Lucas, director Zack Snyder has officially denied reports on his involvement in "Star Wars VII", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the early rumours sparked by entertainment site, Vulture, Snyder, 46, who directed "300", "Watchmen", and the new Superman film "Man Of Steel", was said to be inspired by Akira Kurosawa's 1954 classic "The Seven Samurai" and thus is developing a new film that focuses on a story of a group of Jedi.

However, the reports were proven not true as Snyder's spokesperson said, "While he is super-flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new "Star Wars". He is currently in post on his two films, "Man Of Steel" and "300: Rise Of An Empire".

Previously, J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek"), Jon Favreau ("Iron Man") and Joss Whedon ("The Avengers") were among the candidates to contend for the directing job.

Snyder is currently working on "The Last Photograph" that sees two men played by Sean Penn and Christian Bale respectively, who travel to Afghanistan on an obsessive quest after being bounded by a mysterious photograph.

"Man Of Steel" will be released in Malaysia and Singapore on 13 June this year.
