Ricky Gervais says being the “most feared man in Hollywood” while hosting the Golden Globes was “such fun”.

The British comic star fronted the prestigious awards ceremony three times and was renowned for cracking cutting jokes about stars including Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen. Ricky has fond memories of his risqué hosting duties, but insists he didn’t take it too seriously.

“I enjoyed the last three Golden Globes immensely,” he said while promoting his new TV show Derek. “To be the most feared man in Hollywood for three hours was such fun… That’s such a tiny part of my life. I literally treat it like three hours work. Do you know what I mean?”

Ricky won’t be attending this year’s ceremony, which is taking place on Sunday.

“I’ve got to fly back,” he explained. “I start filming the new Muppet movie next week.”

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are co-hosting the Golden Globes this year.

30 Rock actress Tina has been discussing the pressure of following in Ricky’s footsteps. She doesn’t want the focus to be on her wisecracks, claiming her priority is to look after the A-list guests.

“One thing about the show because it's such a fun night, it's not really about the host giving a big comedy performance,” she explained. “We feel like our job is to keep things moving and help get the movie stars more liquored up so hopefully someone's boob will fall out of their dress. That's our main role.”

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Tina and Amy also revealed they have devised a drinking game to entertain the people watching at home.

“[The rules are] any time an actress cries in a speech, drink. Any time you see a person actively not listening to someone onstage, drink,” explained Tina.

“And any time someone says, ‘I didn’t prepare anything!’” added Amy.

The comic duo was also asked what they had been doing to ensure they look their best on the night.

Amy joked she was considering undergoing a cosmetic procedure before the ceremony.

“Everyone says, ‘Make sure you’re enjoying doing it and make sure you have fun and keep it loose.’ I think Tina and I aren’t worried about that,” she explained. “We just want to make sure we look amazing. We don’t care what we say. I have to get my head peel done before Jan. 13.”

Tina also revealed she wants to impress with her youthful appearance.

“I want to look like a really young candle,” she quipped.
